Soften expression lines.

Are you seeing your facial expression "etched" into your skin? Wrinkles on your skin in the upper and mid-face may be to blame, which is why our board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeon, Dr. William Vinyard, performs neurotoxin injections in his Port Saint Lucie, FL, practice. BOTOX in Port Saint Lucie can dramatically improve dynamic facial wrinkles resulting from expressions and movement from the muscles contracting on the forehead. The lines disappear as the face relaxes; static creases can still be present but should soften over time.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX in Port Saint Lucie is a purified botulinum toxin (type A) strain that temporarily blocks the underlying tissue and muscle movements. To diminish the appearance of these dynamic lines and wrinkles, BOTOX injections relax and soften the skin. Dr. Vinyard most commonly places this specific injection between the brows where "11" lines appear, on the crow's feet, and throughout the forehead. As a temporary solution to revitalize aging skin, we advise scheduling regular BOTOX injections at the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery (VIPS). We recommend you treat the areas of concern with BOTOX every 3-4 months. This will help you to maintain an overall smoother appearance. As you continue to do this, the muscles will atrophy (get smaller) and may even require less BOTOX or less frequent treatments to maintain the result.

I had BOTOX with Dr. Vinyard to treat the wrinkles on my forehead two weeks ago. He did an excellent job, and he was very gentle. I feel younger and refreshed already! I wish I had started getting BOTOX sooner! The cost was very affordable. He is a wonderful plastic surgeon, and I am very happy with my results!

Who is a candidate?

Facial wrinkle correction is used for individuals who hope to diminish and soften the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, lines, and moderate folds on their complexion non-surgically. Wrinkle relaxers are often considered a preventive treatment even if static wrinkles have not yet formed – think about how often you make facial expressions. It is an effective non-surgical solution if you have apparent forehead lines or frown lines between the brows. It's also a solution for crow's feet around the eyes. Combining a wrinkle relaxer and a dermal filler may be a better option if you have deeper lines. Also, if you are older with moderate to severe skin laxity, you may be a candidate for a facelift. This offers a more dramatic result and is meant to last years. VIPS offers various facelifts, blepharoplasties, and brow lifts as excellent options.

Your consultation

During your consultation with Dr. Vinyard, he will meticulously assess your medical history, conduct a comprehensive facial examination, and discuss your concerns and goals regarding facial wrinkle correction. After this in-depth evaluation, he will craft a personalized treatment plan tailored to your anatomy and goals.

This plan will outline the ideal treatment areas and recommend the amount of product required to attain your desired outcome. Our dedicated patient care coordinator will give you a detailed cost estimate for your wrinkle correction procedure.

What is the technique?

BOTOX injections are for the wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabella region), the crow's feet, and the horizontal line across the forehead. Dr. Vinyard's approach creates a more naturally smooth appearance by preventing specific muscles from moving. You will still be able to make expressions using the muscles surrounding the eye.

Wrinkle relaxer injections are performed as an outpatient procedure right in our Port Saint Lucie, FL, office. We commonly perform the injection within the same appointment as your consultation with Dr. Vinyard. You will be asked to make a few facial expressions using the upper face, such as squinting, frowning, and smiling, to allow us to determine where the injections are best placed.

Selecting a qualified provider ensures safe, effective, and aesthetically pleasing results. Dr. Vinyard will cleanse the skin and use artistic techniques to administer the injections using a fine needle. We will then apply a cold compress to help reduce bruising, swelling, and discomfort. Injections typically take 10-15 minutes, after which you can get back to your day with no required recovery period.

What to expect

After your injections, you may return to your usual schedule, but strenuous activities like exercise should be postponed for at least a day. The treated facial areas may become red, bruised, or swollen for a couple of days but should not have any lasting or serious side effects. Injection sites typically heal within 24 hours, but minor bruising may take 7-14 days. In most cases, the full effects of BOTOX become visible after 7-10 days, and results generally last 3-4 months. We recommend scheduling a two-week follow-up with your injector to ensure everything is settling as it should.

To maximize your non-surgical facial rejuvenation results, you may also benefit from a dermal filler, such as Juvéderm. This is most commonly used to address wrinkles in the lower part of the face, such as the nasolabial folds (creases from the nose to the corner of the mouth), labiomental folds (wrinkles from the corners of the mouth to the chin), and around the mouth. We refer to this as a "liquid facelift." It is a non-surgical way of achieving a modest amount of facial rejuvenation without the downtime and investment of more aggressive treatments.

How much does BOTOX cost?

The total cost for BOTOX injections will depend on how much product is used. This will vary based on your needs and goals. During your consultation, Dr. Vinyard will form your personal treatment plan before he can estimate your costs. BOTOX can produce impressive results when performed by a skilled plastic surgeon like Dr. Vinyard or his aesthetic nurse practitioner. If done by someone without training, it can be unsafe, so it's better to avoid places offering cheap or knock-off injections. To save money, ask about our rewards program so you can start earning points for BOTOX and other Allergan products, like Juvéderm.

How long will my results last?

Improvements from BOTOX can last up to four months. Most patients schedule a visit every season to sustain their results, but you may come back sooner. If you are getting BOTOX while you are younger as a preventive treatment, you may be able to schedule visits further apart. After listening to your goals and forming your treatment plan, Dr. Vinyard can estimate when to schedule your next treatment session.

What is the difference between wrinkle relaxers and fillers?

Wrinkle relaxers such as BOTOX and dermal fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane are treatments designed to enhance appearance by reducing wrinkles and smoothing fine lines. BOTOX effectively relaxes overused facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, including frown lines, Crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, and smile lines. On the other hand, dermal fillers work by adding volume beneath the skin's surface, addressing hollow areas, and diminishing fine lines across the face. Depending on your specific objectives, Dr. Vinyard may recommend BOTOX, dermal fillers, or a combination of both to achieve a non-surgical “liquid facelift.”

What is the distinction between BOTOX and Xeomin?

BOTOX and Xeomin are various injectable wrinkle relaxers created with botulinum toxin (type A). They all can relax facial muscles to improve wrinkles, but each formula is slightly different to suit specific areas of your face and your aesthetic needs. There are subtle distinctions between them, including the amount of botulinum toxin (type A) within each dose, treatment spread, and length of time to see results. Dr. Vinyard will choose the most desirable medication to achieve your goals.

Is BOTOX safe?

When correctly applied, BOTOX rarely causes any complications. That said, it is crucial to choose someone with experience and training in handling this injectable, like Dr. Vinyard or his aesthetic nurse practitioner. Overinjecting BOTOX can give you an undesirable outcome. A skilled injector will use just enough of the medication to effectively suspend the muscles that cause wrinkles from moving while leaving nearby muscles unaffected. One of the most popular cosmetic treatments on the market today, BOTOX, is safe and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In addition to cosmetic uses, BOTOX is also used to treat medical issues, including facial spasms, excessive sweating, uncontrollable blinking, and migraines.
