Dr. Vinyard will design a treatment plan to add volume to the lips as well as fill out any fine lines in the area. This treatment is available for men and women who qualify and are over the age of 21. At the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, we carry only physician-dispensed injectables that require a prescription. VIPS carries several variations of the Juvederm formula, including:

  • Juvederm Ultra XC: Used for a plump, natural look. Enhances lip fullness.
  • Juvederm Volbella: Adds volume for a subtle plump. Softens the appearance of lip lines.

Who Are The Candidates?

Patients over the age of 21 who are looking to achieve fuller, more shapely lips are a candidate for lip filler. It is important to maintain realistic expectations when coming in for your appointment. Results vary from patient to patient. For example, you may see online that a patient was able to achieve your dream results iwth just a syringe of filler. Keep in mind that this may not be the same for every patient. While one patient may online require half of a syringe of filler, others could require one full and sometimes even 2 full syringes.

What's the Technique?

Lip filler appointments on average only take about 45 minutes, including 15 minutes for consultation and 30 minutes for the procedure. It is important to avoid aspirin , ibuprofen, Motrin or other blood thinners, unless taken for medical purposes, before your lip filler appointment in order to prevent bruising. If you have a history of cold sores, please let our office know as injections could increase this risk of recurrence and preventative medication can be provided.

Before the procedure, your lips will be cleaned and injection spots will be selected. To reduce discomfort during the process, Juvederm fillers contain and anesthetic. After your treatment, you are allowed to go back to your daily routine, but strenuous activity including exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours. You should be careful to not touch your face after your treatments to avoid massaging the filler into other areas.

Other aesthetics treatments such as lasers, chemical peels, facials and Microneedling should be avoided for a week after your lip filler treatment. Your injector will provide you with detailed post-treatment instructions at the end of your procedure. Depending on the product used, lip filler usually lasts between 9 – 18 months. The product is slowly absorbed by the body in a natural way. At this point, you will be able to notice some volume loss and should consider coming in for another filler appointment.

What Can I Expect?

You typically experience a noticeable improvement immediately after your Juvéderm procedure, but you may also develop mild swelling or bruising in the treated areas for approximately 7 – 10 days. The results of Juvéderm dermal fillers usually are visible for up to one year; some patients find that their improvements last longer after multiple years of treatments. Talk to Dr. Vinyard about when to book a touch-up or full session at VIPS to keep your results.

The price of Lip filler will vary based on how much filler is necessary for the treatment area. The more filler that is used, the higher the cost of the treatment. Prior to your injection treatment, a customized treatment plan will be created to fit your aesthetic goals and budget. Once you have had a consultation with Dr. Vinyard, he will recommend the amount of filler needed to help you achieve your desired appearance.

Will the procedure be painful?

Though most patients do not find it necessary, an anesthetic can be applied to the treatment area prior to injection if you are worried about any pain. Following treatment, you may experience some slight swelling and bruising that will usually subside within a week depending on the treatment area. You should contact our office if you experience any significant pain or abnormal side effects after your Lip filler treatment.

What results can I expect?

It may take a few days to see the full results of your lip filler treatment. Typically, it only takes one treatment session to achieve your desired outcome. However, you can schedule a follow-up appointment if you would like to add more volume than received with your initial treatment.
