We all know the difficult experiences through which women go during their lifetime: childbearing, menopause, hormonal changes, etc. All of these affect the genitalia in multiple ways (vaginal laxity, stress urinary incontinence, erotic sensation decrease, loss of vaginal lubrication, and the loss of tone of the labia majora and minora), taking their toll on women’s overall well-being and self-confidence. Furthermore, due to a lack of self-esteem, the relationship between you and your spouse/partner could deteriorate.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ (ASPS) 2019 report has noted an increase in surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedures, such as labiaplasty. However, both physicians and the media joined efforts in an attempt to raise awareness about a less-invasive approach toward vaginal health: nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation!
Why Vaginal Rejuvenation May be Right for You
If you’re dealing with any problem concerning the genitalia, you know how uncomfortable wearing your favorite items of clothing or exercising becomes. These issues interfere with your self-confidence, making it harder to enjoy sexual intercourse or even a nice day outside.
The truth is, genitalia shouldn’t come between you and your happiness. With the increasing number of treatments available on the market, the time has come for you to regain your self-esteem and well-being!
There are Both Surgical and Minimally-Invasive Options
Is the thought of surgical procedures a discouraging factor? Do you prefer a less-invasive approach to vaginal rejuvenation? Here at the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, we’ve got you covered! Whether surgical or nonsurgical, the following procedures can bring positive changes to your genitalia. Remember to discuss your goals with William Vinyard, MD, FACS, our Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, before selecting a treatment.

Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a common vaginal rejuvenation procedure used to treat issues with the labia majora and minora (such as misshape and sagging). Performed either under general anesthesia or as an in-office procedure under local anesthesia, labiaplasty is aiming at a superior aesthetic aspect of the genitalia. This procedure deals with excess tissue through incisions while tightening and restoring symmetry to the remaining tissue.
In 2019 alone, the ASPS has reported more than 11,000 procedures in the U.S. alone, a 9% growth compared to the previous year.
Other Surgical Procedures
- Clitoral hood reduction: deals with excess tissue over the clitoris for superior sexual experience.
- Mons pubis reduction: this procedure clears the mons pubis from unwanted pockets of fat and dermal tissue for a finer appearance of the pelvic area.
- Vaginoplasty: best suited for women who are not considering pregnancy any time soon, this procedure tightens stretched or loose muscles, restoring a normal vaginal structure and function.
Nonsurgical Labiaplasty
Our office in Port St. Lucie, FL, has been equipped with the latest technological equipment to provide a minimally invasive alternative that achieves faster healing with results approaching that of the surgical option. Let’s take a minute to explore these minimally invasive options:
AVIVA with Accutite Technology
The AVIVA device reduces redundant tissue and tightens skin using micro incisions and the wonders of radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL). Since it does not involve any incisions, many patients know this procedure by the name of scarless labiaplasty.
Microneedling with Morpheus8
Morpheus8 is a micro-needling device that uses radiofrequency energy to remodel dermal tissue through subdermal adipose remodeling. It uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deep layers of the dermis, creating the perfect conditions for revitalized collagen production. Once the treatment is over, your skin texture will improve dramatically.
Votiva Forma V
Votiva Forma V is the newest, most revolutionary nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure, which employs the power of RF energy to the vaginal canal, pelvic floor and the exterior labia. The results are increased production of collagen and elastin in the area. Moreover, many of our patients have reported additional benefits, for instance: increased lubrication, increased arousal, lower pain levels during intercourse, even improvements against mild to moderate Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI).

Benefits of Choosing a Minimally-Invasive Procedure
Overall, nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation treatments provide results similar to their surgical counterparts without incisions, tissue ablation, or needles (some procedures make use of instruments that are inserted internally). Apart from their minimally-invasive approach, nonsurgical procedures bring a myriad of benefits worthy of mentioning:
- These procedures are usually performed during lunch breaks with no need for additional time spent in a medical facility.
- Many patients are noticing considerable improvements within 1 to 2 days following treatment.
- Minimal downtime is required.
- You can resume sexual intercourse shortly after treatment.
Cons to Choosing a Minimally-Invasive Procedure
While nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation is a wonderful option for most women, it does have a few limitations:
- Lower result longevity (upward to 1 year).
- Multiple treatments are required for superior results.
- Depending on the levels of tissue laxity or sagging labia, the effectiveness of this treatment can be reduced.

Will There be Any Recovery Time?
Here at the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Vinyard performs these nonsurgical procedures, such as FEMtite under local anesthesia, which means that you can leave the office immediately following the procedure. There is no anesthesia or numbing required for Votiva FormaV. Depending on the device used, we recommend that you refrain from tampons and sexual intercourse at least one to four days after treatment.
Expected Results after a Vaginal Rejuvenation
Although most of our patients have reported improvements the moment they left the office, this is not always the case. The tightening effect of RF energy treatments could take up to a month to notice the changes which continue upto a year after the procedure. Patience and listening to Dr. Vinyard’s postoperative instructions are the shortest way to your best results!
