Vaginal rejuvenation is aligning itself more and more with women’s intimate needs, and the statistics are quick to show it – in 2016 alone, the popularity of labiaplasty grew by 39% and, in 2019, by 9%. With such numbers in mind, we think it is necessary to take a moment to discuss vaginal rejuvenation and the causes that are making more and more women seek professional help.

Vaginal rejuvenation has to do with a set of procedures that primarily deal with the patient’s concerns. While many women are more concerned with the aesthetic aspect of their vaginal area, some of them conditions such as Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) or dryness. Did you know that vaginal rejuvenation is not a new thing on the block? Women have had access to vaginal rejuvenation techniques for centuries now, though with less spectacular results. Since then, however, increased technological innovation has brought vaginal rejuvenation closer to all women.

How Can Vaginal Laxity Affect Women?

What exactly causes the need for vaginal rejuvenation? Childbearing, the aging process, hormonal changes, and atrophy are the main causes for conditions such as vaginal relaxation syndrome. Because of the discomfort it creates, some women might avoid certain activities, such as yoga pants, for aesthetic reasons.

Furthermore, vaginal laxity has been linked to sexual dysfunction – in a survey conducted by the International Urogynaecological Association, 84% of the physicians believed that women felt self-conscious about reporting vaginal laxity, and 95% thought that the link between laxity and sexual function was uncontestable.

Here at the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, we are ready to jump to the rescue and help women who want to rejuvenate their vaginal area. For that reason, today, we’re going to talk about the VIPS favorite procedures for feminine self-care inside & out!

Internal Vaginal Rejuvenation with VOTIVA FORMA V

When it comes to internal vaginal rejuvenation, one device has been gaining a lot of attention in particular – VOTIVA FORMA V. Using the benefits of non-ablative radiofrequency (RF) energy, VOTIVA FORMA V gently delivers heat to the inside of the vaginal canal through the use of a special wand. As the RF energy is being delivered, your body will respond with improved blood circulation, better muscle relaxation, and tighter vaginal tissue.

Once the treatment is complete, you can leave our office ready to return to your daily activities, leaving any feeling of self-consciousness about your vaginal area behind. After a few days, you will begin to notice additional improvements, such as decreased Stress Urinary Incontinence, increased lubrication, increased arousal, and less pain during intercourse. Furthermore, you will experience an essential “internal reward” – increased levels of confidence!

At the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, William J. Vinyard, MD, FACS, will perform the procedure, who pursued the necessary training from the inventor of VOTIVA FORMA V to be qualified to perform this procedure. Being one of the few who underwent this training process, Dr. Vinyard is more than qualified to join you in your vaginal rejuvenation process and deliver the results of your dreams.

External Vaginal Rejuvenation with AVIVA FemTite™

The minimally invasive approach to vaginal rejuvenation saw a noticeable boost with the arrival of AVIVA FEMTite™ on the market. The AVIVA FEMTite™ treatment brings together the Morpheus8 and AccuTite technologies to take the appearance of the labia to the next level. The FEMTite™ device delivers RF energy to the vaginal area to shrink vulvar tissue, as well as produce new collagen and elastin, perfect for smooth, tight vaginal tissue. For superior results, we recommend that you pair FEMTite™ with Morpheus8, an RF microneedling procedure.

As you leave our VIPS office, you will be ready to resume your day-to-day activities since FEMTite™ is an outpatient procedure. However, as a precaution, taking it easy for the first few days – refraining from heavy lifting and sexual intercourse – is recommended. After this short downtime period, you will be ready to notice wonderful improvements – improved SUI, an increase in sexual drive, and a great boost in confidence!

A Surgical Approach to External Vaginal Rejuvenation: Labiaplasty

Aside from the minimally invasive approach, women can make use of the surgical yet classical approach to vaginal rejuvenation – the labiaplasty. This cosmetic surgical procedure entails surgical work done to the labia majora (the outer part of the female genitalia).

The plastic surgeon uses a scalpel to cut away unwanted tissue and suture the remaining tissue together with dissolving stitches. Through the trim procedure (the traditional method) or the wedge procedure, either the plastic surgeon can change the shape of the labia majora and correct any asymmetry.

After the procedure, you will be left with more aesthetically appealing vaginal tissue. This approach to vaginal rejuvenation, although surgical, is gaining more and more popularity amongst women – more than 11,000 labiaplasty procedures were performed in 2019 alone. This constant growth in numbers should not surprise us, since the satisfaction rate of women who undergo this procedure is over 90%!
